Edit II: The setting should have rules for platoon-sized combat, so the warlords have something to do.

I disagree that you need rules for mass combat for the warlord to have things to do.

But I’d be all for an expansion on the sidekicks or maybe give the class something like the noble’s retinue, but able to fight when commanded. Something like an always on “conjure woodland beings”.

Or, just make them good at inspiring people, including the other PCs.

My opinion is Birthright is the right setting for a warlord class, and better if there is a strategy videogame to promote this franchise.
