D&D General The Old "Boil an Ant Hill" Problem

I think you should have copies of your sheet, digital or paper. I'm getting flashbacks of ruined sheets just writing this. o_O
I have the players' copies. The sheets stay here between sessions, end of story. When I'm a player, my sheet stays at the DM's house - that way I a) know where it is and b) won't forget to bring it to the next game.

And I've seen enough sheets get accidentally drowned in spilled tea and beer over the years to know they're still usually readable enough afterwards to make a new one.

Half of DMing seems to be interaction design rather than game design. Getting the process of running to fit your group is at least as challenging as actually sitting behind the screen and telling stories.
