The perfect gamer wife

Liquid Awesome
I really don't have time to be posting this but I just had to.

My wife, is the perfect gamer wife. Every gamer on the planet should be so lucky.

Here I am, getting ready to leave her for a week to go to GenCon. She'll be having to do all the parenting of the very precocious, very 4 years old, Samantha the Red while I'm gone. All the meals, all the baths, all the tucking in at bedtime, all the kiddie videos, all the everything. And yet this whole week she is doing everything possible to make my trip go smoothly.

She took my truck to get an oil change before I drive to Indy. She's gathering up clothes and other stuff that I nearly forgot to pack. She let me sleep in this morning so I'll be rested for the long drive starting tonight. And just a few minutes ago, she walked in with a new CD that she knew I wanted so I'll have some brand new music to listen to on the drive. And, well let's just say that she's been very physically expressive about how much she'll be missing me for the next week. ;)

I can't possibly thank her enough for making this trip happen for me and I hope that each and every ENWorlder going to GenCon this year has a spouse like mine.

See you all soon for some good times and great gaming.

Lucky Bastard.

Mind you my wife is pretty good when it comes to gaming and has even joined in at times and she does it enjoy gaming to a point but there is a limit to her tolerance. I doubt she would be very happy with me if I said I was going to GenCon for a week and leaving her with our 5 month old baby girl.

I think at that point I would have crossed a line somewhere and would have been killed or at least have had to change poopy diapers for a good solid week.

Hmmmm.... How long will you be gone exactly? ;)

I can do better: I met my wife gaming. She gleefully and obsessively wants CCGs and minis, and don't even get me started about the dice. She loves to play and has even run her first game recently. My wife is the perfect gamer wife - she is a gamer too!

I'm really happy for you, man. :)

I'm also thinking about my ex-girlfriend, imagining her in such a scenario. I think she would have imploded from the stress of single-parenting a child for a week, and it would have come out directed at me in a passive-agressive way. She'd have constantly reminded me, subtlely, how rough it was going to be for her while I was gone, and how much I should appreciate it that she's staying behind to run the show. And that CD thing? Forget it. ;)

Your story gives me hope.

Hey, my wife tolerates my gaming. . .Actually she's pretty damn supportive of the group, especially since we host it in our condo here in NYC. She's got a 2-year old to contend with for the week, and is 4 months pregnant. Now that's a trooper!

As thanks, I'm sending her up to the Muskokas (Cottage country in Canada,) for her troubles. ;)

Cheers,

My perfect gamer wife and I decided not to go because we already own so much we haven't had time to play that we're going to stay home, invite some friends over, and get some new game systems played.

She keeps the web sites for all my oddball worlds up and running, generates hardback Player's Guides for the primary world, and thinks "pick up games" are things you do on any given night.:) And she has tried to "bribe" the GM, but then admitted she knew it wouldn't work.

My wife is a player in my campaign, makes sure we have snacks before we start, makes arrangements for the food we'll eat IN ADVANCE of the session, runs the gaming calendar so we know when, where and who will be available for maximum gaming, usually cooks breakfast for everyone when we do the all night thing, and is always willing to forgo the rent for that one little thing I need for the next session (Okay, maybe not the rent, but feeding the kids, definitely.):D
