The perfect gamer wife

<SNIP> But really, the "kewl gamer wife" aspect of her -- as cool and welcome as it is -- pales in comparison to everything else she is: best friend, awesome mother, and generally the best thing that has ever happened to me. <SNIP>

That's great Rel.

But I think my wife is even more perfect (at least for me).
She is everything I have always wanted in a wife and friend and she loves gaming as much as I do. She actually gamed before I did. :D

I can do better: I met my wife gaming. She gleefully and obsessively wants CCGs and minis, and don't even get me started about the dice. She loves to play and has even run her first game recently. My wife is the perfect gamer wife - she is a gamer too!

That's not better by a long shot:)

Rel just described awoman showering him with gifts and sex as he heads out the door to a Convention.

You describe a competitor for "Rares" ;)

That's a damn good spouse.

This is key: you DO owe her big. Come up with something she would love to do - preferably something she would think is to big to actually ask of you - and insist that she do it, then do everything you can to make sure her event goes as smoothly as she's making yours.

Something like hat is crucial (and only fair!) in my opinion.

I've got a weekend at a Bed & Breakfast lined up with my wife (with a booked "Massage under a canopy in the Garden" package at the B&B) as a "surprise thank you" for her tolerance of my taking off for a few days.

Can't say that I really consider it much of a sacrifice on my part though:)

My girl (not wife) is coming with me, we'll see how she does. I think she likes to come to be with me but is not a gaming fan in any way. That said she doesn't bother us when the gaming group plays at our house, which is fairly small, so that is nice.

Take care of your wife man, you are pretty lucky.

Good man!

Just to make sure my perfect gamer wife gets her share of credit - I'd like to note that she actually maintains the character sheets and spell databases for our gaming group. This includes double-checking gold, encumbrance, skill points, and everything.

How many of your spouses do that, hmm?

I just wanted to drop in to congratulate everybody on their terrific spouses. I get lots of envious remarks from my players. My wife's pretty terrific, too. I DM. She hosts. And she coaches new players unfamiliar with the rules. And she picks up any plot hook I provide. She lets others lead if they want, but takes over party leadership when they go slack-jawed.

My wife's pretty terrific all-around, but when we game, it becomes obvious to everybody.

Oh, and I want everybody to take note of the link in my signature.
