Maiu: (reposted from IM)
There's no clerics in here... just a surprised-looking tailor hard at work, and a couple obvious apprentices.
Maiu speaks quickly: "Excuse me, sir, I was wondering if I could stay here for a little bit. I know I'm partially naked but my friend will be along soon to pay for some clothes for me. It's just he's dealing with the Merchant's Guild right at the moment."
The tailor quickly composes himself. "Perhaps we should start from the beginning, yes? Why is it that you are clad as you are, and wishing to hide in my shop?"
"Well, I ran into a bit of trouble with a mage and he stole all of my stuff and thought it would be fair trade to take everything I own just because I stated something he didn't like"
"Theft? Then you should be talking to the watch, not me, no?"
"Well it's just that I really don't have any clothes on and I think it would be a bit, how would you say it, rude for me to walk around town in almost nothing"
"Ah, yes, of course. You need clothing. You have certainly come to the right place. I, Armando Nemiti, am the finest tailor in the city. I can certainly make you whatever you desire."
"I just need some sorceress robes, please. My friend will be along shortly to pay for them."
"Robes? I can get you robes, yes. Do you have preferences in style and color?"
"Well fitting, also if you have a dark purple robe with black edges that would do. I was also wondering if you have some clothes to wear under armor."
"Purple and black?" Armando frowns slightly. "I can do this, but it not look good, you know. Make it seem like you work with the Assassins, dressing like that." He looks puzzled when you mention wearing clothes under armor. "You wanted 'sorceress' robes... and clothes for wearing under armor? I thought you mage types couldn't wear armor..."
"At the beginnning, since I am a low power sorceress it's best that I wear something else that will protect me until i can become better skilled and also much more powerful. For the robes what would you suggest?"
"Low in power? Hmm... wait a minute... in my experience, mages who are low in power are also low in money... you are sure your 'friend' will be able to pay for this?"
"How much is it?"
"The robes will be 30 pieces of gold... more if you want them quickly, as I do have other orders to fill. Clothing that you can wear under armor..." He sniffs. "That is dog work. I could get any apprentice to make such a thing for you, for a mere 10. I would not touch it, myself."
"So how long would it take you to make the robes for me?"
"If you want them immediately, and that would cost you much more, you understand, then I could have them done by tomorrow morning. If you place it as just another order, it would take about a week... I am busy, after all."
"Do you have anything basic that you would be able to have done with in a few hours? Also, how long would it take to get the clothes for the armor?"
"Basic?" He looks vaguely annoyed. "I begin to suspect that you are in the wrong store. If you want an old rag to cover your nudity, you can get it from most any dog who pretends to be a tailor. If you want art, you come to me."
"Okay, I was just publicly stripped by a mage and hand to walk through town NAKED and I came into your store thinking I could get something to wear until my friend is able to find me and you finish my clothes."
Armando waves dismissively. "This is not my problem. If need be, you could perhaps borrow (he says this word with special distaste) something from my apprentice, here (he gestures towards a young woman who is busily sewing at some minor piece of clothing), to cover yourself as you wait here... but no amount of gold will convince me to demean my talent and make such filth as the dogs here make. If you want rags, then leave! Go elsewhere, for you will not get such a thing here! If you want true craftsmanship, then you will have to wait, for such a thing does not come quickly."
