The Power of Feats

I'm trying to come up with some epic feats.

How powerful would you say they are?

Are they equivalent to two normal feats?

Can i just mash two normal feats together and say "there's an epic feat"?

Thanks

Well like they stated in the early days of 3e not all feats are equal. I'd say you can do just about anything with an epic feat, but it should be at least as powerful as two good regular feats. IMHPO some of the feats in the ELH arent really quite powerful enough to be "epic".
What did you have in mind?

Well, all of the Epic (str, dex, con, etc...) feats are the same effect as a wish spell without the xp penalty. So they are pretty powerful.

Also, stackable seems to be a good rule of thumb
For example:
Automatic still/silent/quicken spell, Fast Healing, DR, Natural Armor, Concealment, SR (assuming you already have it from another source)

But in general just think of it as a way of getting all those abilities that you didn't have access to or gave up for another ability.

As we some time know some feats that people make that seam over powered at non epic levels might be epic feats. Some people after looking throw the epic level hand book said they where makeing thos kinds of feats and that they looked like a little kid made most of em.

Now think on that and what the people have said before me and you get a good idea of the epic realm of D&D.

Standered overpowered feat might equal epic feat with some work.

I was thinking of combining two feats from Savage Species to make an epic one...

Improved Scent and Uncanny Scent.

Make them into an epic feat "Improved, Uncanny Scent"

Would that be unbalancing?

Epic Scent would do something on top of both Improved and Uncanny Scent, and would require both of them, and some seemingly irrelevant +BAB, just to make it impossible for anyone else to get.

Epic feats tend to be silly. If your feat makes absolutely no sense, and/or blatantly disregards laws of physics, consider making it an epic feat.

You know... if you don't like the idea, then don't post to the thread -- if you have something slightly more constructive to add to the discussion, then add it.

Even in your derision, though, you make a good point -- I think "Epic Scent" would do something on top of the two SS Scent feats, and would probably require them both.

Not having SS in front of me right now, I'd say you'd be better served in general by making something that expanded past those two feats and required those two feats. Knowing a little more about your design situation, I know that means putting off taking the feat you're developing at least eight more levels.

IMO, however, Scent is a powerful ability, not all feats were necessarily created equal, and by just smashing the two together, it could possibly be a bit too much for one bite.

So, Mordane, no?

This is part of the "Awareness" martial art i'm trying to create, so if i can't mash the two feats together, then i'll have to go back to the drawing board
