The Psionicle: Animus' Quest

While you wait, the ship gives a fitful start into the air, and slowly rises as the propellors turn faster and faster. After a few moments, the ship begins to move forward, at first slowly, then gradually picks up speed, as it turns and heads to the southwest.

As the ship's speed and altitude become relatively stable, the crew seems to relax as a whole - their movements are less hurried, and their expressions become less stressed. The captain talks to the two halflings for a moment, who then scurry through a small hatch in the back of the ship near the engine. The other human, a male, takes the wheel of the ship, and the captain stands nearby at the rail, watching the scenery pass below.

Animus will walk up in front of the captain and take a slight bow crossing his right arm over his chest and keeping the left at rest. He then waits for her to acknowledge him before attempting to make the mind link (in hopes that she allows him to pass her power resistance and save so he can communicate).

"My name is Animus. I am here as a parcel of the sorcerer Jirlai. May I have a word with you about something that bothers me?"

OoC: For clarification, resistance gained from classes that are force-aligned can't be lowered. Resistances gained from any other source can be, but if you take levels in a class that gives resistance, you can't lower it. In the case of having resistance from a class and an item (for example), you can lower the resistance from the item, but not the class.

The captain nods in response to your bow, giving you her attention.

Animus
"My name is Animus. I am here as a parcel of the sorcerer Jirlai. May I have a word with you about something that bothers me?"

She nods, a slight look of surprise on her face, then looks to the man who took the wheel. "Keep 'er steady." She then looks to you. "To ma cabin - privacy, 'n all." She leads you through the hatch near the engines, down a ladder, and through a short hallway leading to the midsection of the ship. She heads through a door, which reveals a small, though modestly decorated, room; she shuts the door behind you. She takes a seat in a small chair behind a small desk, and indicates for you to take a seat in the only other chair present.

"What can I help ya with?" She asks.

"I need to know the circumstances under which Jirlai acquired your help, first and foremost. Did he hire you, or were you employed by another? Luna perhaps? Or was it still someone else?"

The captain considers you for a moment.

"We were hired by a githyanki, name a Klavya. I was told ta stay here and wait fer Jirlai 'n party. He was a spooky fella... but he had more'n enough coin ta pay fer the trip, an' I don't question employers. Nothin' ta scare 'em away - business is poor enough with this bein' Kahasal, an' with the war brewin'..." She shrugs. "Why, you worried we're spies, er somethin'?" She smiles.

"Not you, mi'lady. But there are forces at work that would likely make sure that Jirlai is always under observation, whether officially or not. I'm also a bit certain that your techs would not be likely suspects for any sort of treachery, so long as they've been with you long enough. Can you tell me about your crew, at least? You see, my very presense here without being shackled and locked away could be dangerous to your ship. I'm certainly of no importance, and no threat to anyone, but Jirlai's employers definitely know whose side I'm on."

The captain's face narrows.

"Danger to ma ship?" She says. "Ma crew... well, as ya said, my 'techs' - they'd be Liat'lynaen and Shar'lynaen - 'ave been with me for a good long time, so I know they're no spies. Marc - that'd be the man at the wheel - he's been with me as long as the halflings. The only recent arrival'd be Rathe, the goblin - ya probably saw 'im when ya came onboard. He's our face here in Kahasal, since he's a native an' that. He's the one who got us this job - Klavya only talked ta me after he found out we 'ad a native onboard, since he'd know th' docks at Koltir better'n the rest a the crew."

"I'm certainly not skilled at conversation or subterfuge. I just want to look towards the safety of my transportation, and as such I'll go investigate the goblin with your permission, if you give it. I simply need to affirm that he isn't aligned against myself. Would you mind?"

The captain shakes her head. "Na, I don't mind. If there is danger ta ma ship, and ya can stop it, be ma guest. Just stay clear af the engine 'n the halflings. Rathe should be on deck... he likes ta look at the scenery when we fly."
