First Post
Well its been awhile i posted anything and Im back ask for help. I am searching for a certain hero archetype, I am looking for which Pulp Hero from the 1930s-40s would be considered the Gadgeteer? So far from certain comic publisher there is batman, Blue Beetle (Ted Kord). Green Arrow, Hawkeye, Reed Richards, Doc Savage and Buckaroo Bonanza in some way. I was hoping if any knew any others?

The Rocketeer? Though he's set in that time period, but created in the 80s I think. Iron Man is a bit late for you - 60sish.

The original Sandman, with his sleep-gas gun and gas mask would be one. The Question would be another- he had a mask that made his face look like a featureless, smooth expanse of flesh.

Box of Alpha Flight was a gadgeteer/power armor guy (PAG)...like a lot of the PAGs- Iron Man, Dr. Doom, etc. But he wasn't noted as being as much of a super-scientist like some of them.

Still, when I think gadgeteer, I think a bit more low-tech/low-price than guys like Stark or Richards. Especially if you're talking "pulp" action heroes.

Hmm...Moon Knight has a bit of the gadgeteer in him, though in some incarnations, he has a few superhuman abilities. Ditto Black Panther.

Actually, in many ways, MacGyver fits the profile, as do most spy types- Bourne, Hawke, Bond, The Prisoner, The Saint.

Oh! What about James West and Artemus Gordon?

The Green Hornet, too.

Doc Savage is probably the pulp gadgeteer. The Shadow, not so much. There was another, but for the life of me I can't remember his name, even though its short and simple. He was the guy whose face turned white and plastic-y. The Avenger? Yeah, I think that's it.

This is an earlier character, but that guy in the Jules Verne stories who built a mecha-elephant and went around India with his friends.

thanks for info guys, this is helping. Also is there any superheroes that can teleport with the aid or cause of technology from either the pulp ear or modern age?
