It was certed, and as far as I can tell, the player just wanted it because it was a magic item, not to trade later or anything.

I suspect it was because of the cert. Otherwise, if he wanted something that wasn't applicable to his character "just because it was a magic item," methinks he may also not quite understand how the AL magic item distribution rules work (in addition to being a bit of a jerk).

Well that or he might be twelve, which is another possibility.

Oh, yeah, that's would also do it. Sounds like he just didn't have a good grasp of how the magic items rules in Al operate.

He was indeed a kid of about that age. Really, aside from two instances of this, magic item distribution has been pretty smooth and mannerly in AL, as far as I've seen.
