The Scarab

"Last airworthy planejack? What happened to the rest, bo? Wait. I'm not sure I want to know that. This whole thing sounds delightful and I'm ready to go read and write anytime you all are." Ashan almost laughs as he says the last bit. In any case, he's grinning, and it's not an unfriendly smile.

Khulmbanos snaps his teeth at Hremelan and Ashan. "You heard the gith. Desert. Bleached bones and black tongues and...ohhh". His voice trails off as the illustration of the Planejack revealed.

"Hmm," he recovers, "scratch that objection, anyways. Fly in, delve the place, pop the throne. Easy money."

Ashan grins humorlessly at the dwarf, "See, it's all going to be duck soup, bo." And then again, to Ram-Tet, "what's the frame for this lay? How much time have we got?"

To Khulmbanos: " 'ey, then I'll be lettin' ya go in before me, since it's easy money, as you pu' i'."

To All: "I'm ready t' leave when yoo are. Di'n't come here t' flap gums in th' rain." He refills his pipe as he is saying this, and stuffing it away for later use.

Chapter 2.

Chapter 2.

(I am dividing the play into chapters so we can keep the game moving along).- the GM

The Next Day, your group assembles at the docks of Rigus Harbour. Most of the vessels here are war-barges or battleships of one kind or another, just resting briefly before pushing back down the river towards Acheron.

Ram-Tet meets your group. With him is one of the ever-present battle nuns, but following closely behind is a grizzled ratlike fellow, outfitted in leather armor and carrying a travelling pack.

"Friends, this is Riss'tiq'check" Ram-tet nods at the Nezumi. "He'll be accompanying you to Hautama. It seems he missed his appointment with us yesterday. I have filled him in on all the details."
(OOC: Festy Dog, you are now in.)

Ram-Tet shades his eyes and looks around the harbor.

"Now, where is that ship..?"

The armored battle-nun points across the harbor in the opposite direction Ram-tet is searching. After a second she takes one hand and physically points Ram-tet in the proper direction.

In the distance, the gleaming Diana can be seen skimming across the harbor on it's astral-fins like a water-beetle. It is technically flying.. hovering just a few feet off the ground.

"ah! there she is.."

The Diana glides to a halt at the edge of the harbor. Aboard, a faint clanking sound can be heard as a large dark blue creature scuttle forward to the railing. It is a formian; an antlike creature native to the nearby plane of Mechanus. This one wears a battered boxlike object around his neck.

The formian gestures with three of his four arms and taps his box. It suddenly begins to ..talk. The sound from it is hollow and distant and crackles intermittently, but is undeniably a voice.

"bzzt.. Greetings, to all. all. I am Tchikkatlikkit. crackle. .. bzzt. I will be piloting your vessel.. chikka. crackle. bszzt."

The formian moves to a section of railing that retracts soundlessly. He pushes over a rolled up rope ladder.

"bzzt.. please! welcome aboard..chikk.."

There is an unpleasant squelch of feedback from the box. The formian taps it again and it falls silent.

Ashan nods politely at the nezumi and the formian. Hopefully the nezumi will turn out to be a right gee. Can't say I feel like wearing a wooden kimono quite yet and certainly not because people can't make meetings on time. Formians are generally square — trustworthy at least. He offers a hand to Ram-Tet, "Well, bo, have no worries. We'll glom that dingus for you and have it back right soon. What's say we get out of here? You cats ready?" Ashan climbs up the ladder and checks out the Diana.

Hremelan leans in towards Khulmbanos, "Uh dunno tha' I can take much more of hes talkin'. 'fraid I'll lose me brain."

Hremelan then turns to Ram-tet, "Well get that li'l bug for ya', you just keep tha' gold warm until we get back." He looks over at the ratman, "Hullo govna, my names Hremelan, friends call me Ray." he extends a tiny hand to shake the ratman's.

As he boards, the little halfling will approach the formian. "I'm thinkin' sumthin's wrong wit' yer box, there. I didn't catch yer name." he will wait expectantly for a clarification.

Riss'tiq'chek bows nervously to the other party members.

"G-Greetingss fellow adventurerss. F-Feel free to call me Risss," he says and attempts a smile with his rat features.

He looks around at everyone.

"M-My expertisse iss in nature and itss wayss. I alsso am proficcient in the artss of combat," he says, a little more proudly than before.

He gladly shakes the halfling's hand, seeming to gain a little confidence with the other's acknowledgements and greetings.

Osric's eyes widen slightly and he whistles appreciatively as the Diana comes into the harbour. "Nice ship. I'm guessing we've got a fairly chunky portal if we're taking this boat."

He grabs the ladder thrown down by the formian, and quickly clambers aboard. He grins at the assembled party, and introduces himself to the newcomer.

"'Morning, Riss, pleasure to meet you. I'm Osric, priest of the mighty Kord." Osric takes the Nezumi's paw in his huge hand and gives it a firm shake, still grinning. "Always good to have an extra blade with us, and you being a tracker could come in handy. You ever tackled kobolds before?"
