I started in 1988. I've never played B2, although I do now own a copy (from the 25th anniversary boxed set).

I wonder what a similar poll would say about the Sunless Citadel? It would explain the universal Meepo love.

"Sunless Citadel" plays the same role for 3e as "Keep on the Borderlands" did back in the day. It is the iconic introductory adventure for new players and new DMs. Hopefully, WotC will be wise enough to produce such an adventure for 4e.

(I don't think "Keep on the Shadowfell" is intended for that purpose - I think it's more for transitioning existing players.)

Really? Given the similar "Keep on the XXX" name and that it's the first published adventure, I figured it was absolutely slotted as the new iconic intro adventure.

I might be misinterpreting that, but I don't think it will fill quite the same role as "Sunless Citadel" or "Keep on the Borderlands", being a low level intro adventure for new DMs.

I think you're right. It does read as if it's not for low-level intro characters as much as just a slight intro into the World of 4e, so to speak.

Hmm, maybe. That one could be read either way. But I see where you're coming from.

I played the Keep too many times to count for sure anymore. First time was in '83. I can't believe it's almost 25 years. Compared to adventures today, it's nothing too great. Back then, it was fantastic.

I started playing in about 84'.

A GM ran me through it.

Then I inherited a lot of old 1st ed stuff including some basic D&D stuff that included Keep.

Ran it. Very open.
