The single-classed wizard

In my current party, three of the members intend to have their characters multiclass. The vivisectionist alchemist and ninja have each planned from the start to take a single level in rogue (knife master) and master spy respectively, whereas I just recently decided I wanted my bard to take a few dragon disciple levels.

Which left our wizard. He seemed fine when both he and I were single-class, but now that I intend to multiclass he's acting like his character is boring, or no longer good enough. Which frankly I think is rather crazy.

I mean come on, the wizard class is capable of such awesome things with magic, probably more so than any of the other arcane classes. To act like your character can't do anything is just... Strange. And I worry a bit that he might multiclass not because he specifically wants to play a multiclass character, but because he feels his character won't be as good if he doesn't.

His decision.
If you want to talk to him point out that it slows down his spell acquisition and suggest that he look a few levels of spells in advance.

I know it's his decision, and I don't plan on attempting to talk him into or out of anything. I just think it's strange. Wizards are powerful, and fairly cool.

Also, do not forget skills, particularly Knowledge skills, and the abilities of specialists. The initiative bonuses that diviners get can be very useful, both to a character and a party.

Well, it seems like, beyond the relative merits/flaws of the wizard class, there's also something of the player feeling left out here by the multiclassing trend in the party, perhaps something of a bandwagon effect. Are there any other players in the party not mutliclassing?

Thank him for multi classing and keeping his wizard weak and thus closer to the rest of the group by giving up spell levels.

Minor note: Ninjas can't take rogue levels (and vice-versa).

As for your wizard friend, is he a universalist or does he specialize?

Yeah, as Ramaster mentions your ninja can't take any rogue levels (not by Paizo rules anyway), since ninja is an alternate class for rogue. It would be like allowing a Fighter to multiclass as a Fighter (Fighter/Fighter) allowing such might let you double up on the number feats you can take (x4 compared to x2 of single class fighter) - yes, that seems ridiculous of an example, but describes exactly why a Ninja can't take a level in rogue - its the same class, only slightly altered.

The ninja isn't taking rogue levels, we know that's not allowed. I can see how the way I phrased it wasn't clear though. To clarify:

The vivisectionist plans to take a rogue level.

The ninja plans to take a master spy level.

Psychotic Jim: Nope, just the four of us in the party.

Ramaster: He's a necromancer wizard.
