Ok, revised and bumped!!

Changed DC for Battle Dirge and Fugue Verse, made Battle Dirge a stacking fear ability and upped it's duration, made Fugue Verse a Supernatural ability, and fixed Skaldic Knowledge table up a bit.

Mustrum, hows that look for ya, man?:p

Ya know... the more I look at this PrC the more I like it.

I think I will even go so far as to say that I will make this available as an option IMC

Well done!

uhhh, sha-naa-naa-naaaa!

WOOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!

Yeah! That's right! Who the man?!?!?

Ok, I'll stop. Thanks, Drowdude, for your incouraging statement.

Tomarrow I will sit at the local coffee shop and create Lygtheow, my character I plan to use this PrC with, a Brd4/Brb4/Sld10. Give him the Leadership feat and see how he fairs.

Hello... It`s me again. :)
1st:
I really love your skald prestige class. :)
2nd: Fugue Verse
Is it really a charming ability? (What is hold person/monster? Don`t have my books here)
3rd: War/Blood Chant
I am not sure, could War Chant/Blood Chant be compulsion? (I believe not, at least not be the rules interpretation...) It would have no effect, I think...
4th:
Battle Dirge
I am not sure if that`s what you meant it to be, but I suggest:
Battle Dirge should become more effective due to the duration, so the first round, the targets are just shaken, the second round frightenend and the third panicked (at least if they fail their save.)
Hmm, but writing this, I wonder if it makes sense that you start just being a little shaken, and than the fear grows? ... Difficult.
5th: DCs (once again)
10+half Hit Dies+CHA? With Hit Dies, do you "only" mean the hit dies gained as skald, or do you mean the total hit dies? The last, I don`t think is a good idea. (But the first would really weaken the DC, wouldn`t it?)
Well, personally I would still prefer Battle Dirge having a DC equal to the perform (or intimidate) result (as a supernatural ability, it ifts), and Fugue Verse having a DC of a Hold Monster Spell (cast by a cleric), perhaps adding the Charisma Modifier (though the last think is not "by the book examples" of spellike abilities).

I wish you much fun with your skald, and perhaps I will steal some (or all) ideas. (Though I don`t know when I will ever play a skald, even if I would really like to.)

There are 2 mechanics that will work well for setting the save DCs here....

1.) Opposed rolls; Perform vs. Will for instance... this one is potentially *too* good, although it does have more of a fun element to it.

2.) 10 + Skald Level + Cha modifier; nice, basic, standardized

I think Fugue Verse would be considered Enchantment (Compulsion)[Mind-Affecting].

Gentlemen,

Once again I would like to thank you for all your constructive, helpful criticism, together we made something that was good, great (IMHO).
I think I will keep the saves for Battle Dirge and Fugue Verse at 10+1/2 HD (total character HD)+ Cha mod. At 8th level a Skald with 18 cha would have a DC for Battle Dirge at 18. At 14th level a skald with 20 Cha would have a DC for Fugue Verse at 22. That's fairly balanced and hard to break (While setting the DC with Skill checks can be disgusting, cool, but disgusting). I did like Battle Dirge giving the slow morale lose from what Musrtum and I hinted on, that stays (makes more sense as an Extraordinary Ability).
DrowDude, I tried to change Fugue Verse to an Enchantment (Compulsion) ability, which made sense. The edit program on the boards is not working correctly for some reason. If you want to copy/paste don't forget to change it.

It looks like this thread is going the way of the Do-Do, so I'll be brief. Thanks again for all your wonderful help. I'll be sure to keep an extra Beholder eye on any projects you guys have in the works.:D
