Dominic will start off by identifying the class and model of ship, then taking a look at the standard plans and known common errors - seeing if he recalls anything that won't be generally documented. Then he'll take a though look at the power systems and drives before moving on through the lifesupport system.

After Darius fiddles a little with the computer, not really knowing what to look for, Dominic takes over. He does a structured engeneering checkout, system by system. Despite the battered looks, the ship is sound. A more thorough search, however, shows a cable in the human waste disposal unit that is about to give way, possibly causing a lot of stink on the voyage.

"Cost to Fix:
Not feeding anyone fibre for the whole voyage - fairly cheap
Actually fixing it - Slightly more expensive"

Let's go check this out, make sure it isn't anything else."

Dominic will also run a quick quote at the starport to find out if the parts are availible in stock and how much they are; then he will head into the bowls of the waste system to go take a look at this for real.

The tube will cost about 50 credits, and is allways in stock. As with all parts for spaceships it's vastly overpriced.
You ponder over the plans of the spaceship, trying to figure out which compartment you'll have to open.

(roll T/engeneering or take 10 or 20)

Dominic does indeed head straight for the right access hatch. He opens it and, indeed, there is a tiny leak in one of the tubes. Satisfied, you wait for the captain to return.
The grizzled Vargr looks at the tube, and back at you.
"Hmmph." He growls in his raspy voice. "You're wasted on the navy. Should go for scout."

He scratches one of his scars.

"You're in. The both of you. Working passage. 10% of free trade profits each. Now go get that tubing and fix it."

"Yes Captain," Dominic stiffens but does not salute., "Right away sir. May we retreive our bags at the same time and bring them aboard sir?"
