The Tearing of the Veil

Halden Kraal-Morning stroll on the beach anyone?

Halden eases down prone on the rise as to make as small a target as possible. He tries to identify the riders on the beach below. Speaking in a soft voice, so as not to be overheard by the people on the beach, he says,

Needless to say, I recommend caution. If they are Thranes, they won't be too keen on the dead taking a short stroll on the beach, plus we are definitely on the wrong side of the border. However, dawn also approaches, at least one of our group better find shelter or sizzle like a roast pig. Whatever we decide we must make haste.

Does it look like there is enough cover to go down the rise to spy on the riders without being observed by them?

A Stroll with Strangers - Alton Grefe

I take it that we are to post all of our character info into the spoilers and that everyone is to read the spoilers in order to get character descriptions?

As Grefe walks along with his six traveling companions he studies their appearance in order to gain some information regarding their past as well as their undead present.

If any living sentients spy our macabre procession, I'm sure they will have a tale worth telling at the local tavern. At least someone may benefit from my condition.

Grefe walks up the eastern side of the hill, cautiously crawling forward as he nears the crest. He counts men and horses and then slides back down to interpose the rise between himself and the men on the beach.

I wonder if there will be discussion regarding what actions we should take next or if independent actions will result? It matters not in the short term, except for those on the beach. I think that the 20 men have little chance against 7 undead, even if we are newly risen.

In a quiet voice Grefe says to the others:
By the actions of our guiding owl I surmise that the men on the shore are not known to it. Possible options for us at this point are:
retreat, find shelter from the sun, hope that the men have left by nightfall and then continue westward
attempt to indimidate the men into leaving us and the skiff unharmed (we are obviously deceased, afterall)
attacking the men (with intent to slay, consume and or torture for information)
bribe the men into doing our bidding (leave, provide information, etc.)
or leave off following the owl and avoid the encounter all together

Are there any options which I overlooked?

Halden Kraal

We could form a dance line and skip down the beach singing show tunes. I don't think they would expect that. Otherwise, I think we should post a lookout or two to watch these riders. The rest find shelter for those that need it. During the day, the rest of us can take watch on our friends down there, and drive/lure them away if the opportunity presents itself. :]

Tibalt Graf

"Although I wasn't in life, I am currently well suited to scouting. I'll get a closer look at those horsemen, and then go high and see if any shelter is visible."

Tibalt mutters and makes a few passes with his hands, and fades from sight. (He casts invisibility) . Unseen to the others, he drifts into the air and flies down to the beach to look more closely at the party there, looking closely for insignia, or lacking that, manner of equipment, dress, and speech.

Tibalt has a knowledge of nobility of 5, and geography of 2, with a +3 intelligence modifier on each, if either of those will help. As to stealth, aside from being invisible and flying, I've a +8 natural bonus and presumably another +1 from dex

On the Beach

sorry i haven't posted recently. assume i followed along.

"Well, I believe that we should wait out the daylight and observe. That way we can also introduce ourselves better."

I still feel uneasy about being around a troup of the deathless. This can't be happening. Were all the undead that I dispatched like we are, just lost and confused?

I was under the impression that only the GM saw the character sheets. We should only know what someone chooses to tell us. Same as in a regular game.

"Obviously the skiff was intended for us. I say those of us who can sneak in close to try and ID them/possibly overhear them (I am very good at this.....sure the ghosts are as well....) By night we can take them if need be. I am also quite suited to taking them down at range, not sure of the ranged capabilities of the others. If we intend to go to where the owl leads we must not let them mess with the skiff.....so am not above us just taking them now if it seems they are going to mess with it......" I do not favor retreat for such a minor nuisence Also for the vampyres among us if we travel to far is that not an issue for them GM? Also are there plants such a saltwater tollerent in the area these men are in GM? One other thing, presume the owl has paused here as this is an obstacle to what it had planned?

I agree. However, the GM posted: "A bit of obsessive tinkering with characters:" and included the tinkering in a spoiler block. Hence my reqquest for clarification.

Though I lack Tibalt's invisibility, I too can be some what sneaky. I don't want to get too close, because I'd rather not compromise Tibalt's opportunity to surveil them properly. But I'd like to experiment with maintaining a low profile by crawling up (even somewhat conceiled passing through the sand). If I can get close enough I'd also like to try and determine who these people are- nationality, heraldry etc, and listen to learn more about the nature of their business here. I won't take too many chances though, as Tibalt seems better suited to the task at hand.

Yes, that one was for us. But if we were playing table top, you would never get to see me character sheet. Why should it be different here? That takes some of the fun and mystery out of it, don't you think?
