The Tearing of the Veil

Sorry for the delay - I've been a bit sidelined this week with family stuff generated by the 4th and my birthday. I guess others have been as well.

Still waiting for round 1 actions from Camilla (she's done her surprise round action, but not round 1) and Tibalt. If they haven't posted by later this evening I will go ahead and NPC them for this round to keep things moving.

Grefe - The opening of the tent is facing the water, so you would need to be nearly in front of it to see in. No Spot check necessary if you have line of sight.

The scale of the map is 1 square = 5 feet.

Tibalt Graf

Sorry - thought we were just declaring the surprise round.

Tibalt, in the guise of the young soldier, cuts loose the line of cavalry horses and scares them away with a slap on the rump.

Carmilla

Just heading towards the boat, invisible and moving silently. As much as possible I'll stick to places where the snow has already been churned up.

Spell casting prereqisites (Grefe)

I believe that the cardinal is at the same disadvantage we are; he cannot cast spells or turn us unless he can see us. Thus, I should have a line of site on him if he emerges from his tent to engage us. :-)

Is concentration required for a cleric to turn undead?

Round One Summary

Lon Deslo moves away from the general commotion. One of the mounted soldiers (S17) follows. "Are you all right? I thought someone jumped you." The other soldiers nearby scatter; a couple mount their horses, one approaches the sound of the baby on foot; a fourth, spotting Alton Grefe, gallops towards the sorcerer.

The best already churned trail Camilla can locate is in Andrinor's footsteps. She follows along the top of the hill after him. She can see several of the soldiers near the tent scrambling for their horses or simply running forward, seemingly uncertain whether to move in the direction of the arrows or the cries of a babe. Two of them, near their captain, answer Andrinor's challenge with arrows of their own. Neither comes close to hitting him, although one arrow plants itself uncomfortably near James Dukar.

While Halden Kraal falls back to set up his own ambush, James Dukar lets fly his missiles with grim accuracy. His target (formerly M1, now S14), partially distracted by the small stampede started by Tibalt, is unable to react in time and slumps in his saddle.

Of the other soldiers near this unlucky fellow, one threads his way between the startled horse, making a cautious approach to Andrinor's position. A second attempts to chase down a few of the steeds. A third grabs Tibalt's host by the shoulder, shouting "What're ye doin'? Are ye ensorcelled, lad?" Before he can reply, Tibalt notices the captain follow his men out. He raises a horn to his lips and blows - a sound that seems to shudder through all that hear it, filling the non-living with a vague sense of unease. A strange luminesence seems to spread from the mouth of the horn in a vast circle that stretches nearly to the summit of the hill.

Here's the updated map, showing where everyone is at the end of round one. H for horse has been replaced with actual horses and M for mounted soldier have been renumbered S13-18.

(Removed to preserve bandwidth - go here if you want to see it)

Grefe: You are correct about line of sight in regard to spells and turning. Turning does not require concentration to remain in effect, but it does have a limited duration.

Tibalt: Action Points can be used to add 1d6 (more at higher levels) to any d20 roll. As a house rule, I allow you to take 3 instead of rolling for the action point.

warlord2: Please post the actual result of the roll (you can just copy and paste the bulleting board code that is generated on the die result page).

Whenever I go again, I will run along the slope until I am just above the horses, around AB20 I believe. Still invisible, but no longer trying to be silent or trying to hide my tracks.

Lon Deslo

Lon shakes his head and appears to regain his composure, replying to s17: I'm fine, just felt lightheaded for a moment.

As the sound of the Captain's horn echos across the beach, Lon draws his sword, and wheels his horse around. What's happening? Are we under attack?

He then spurs his mount forward and strikes at s17 with his sword, rolling 1d20+3=15 which if it hits does 1d10+3=12 damage.
