The term 'Armor Class' needs to go

Well, isn't that the root of all of the edition changes, ultimately?

Yeah, true. I guess I just need to take a break from forums until WotC release enough information that we have something concrete to discuss other than endless speculation and what ifs.

I can't agree with the removal of Armour Class from the game. Nor can I agree with it being redefined - that would just be pointlessly confusing; better just to get rid of it entirely than do that IMO.

Defense, Fortitude and Willpower should replace the ugly names from Star Wars (Reflex Defense, Fortitude Defense, Will Defense - ugly, ugly, ugly!)

Armor class could be the bonus a piece of armor provides to a character's Defense, if it is at all necessary to keep the term. Armor bonus would of course be the best term.

The term "Armor Class" is unintuitive, and really just a pointless relic (i.e., sacred cow.)

"Defen[s/c]e" is clearly more intuitive. It actually makes sense to use in the given context, kinda thing. :)

So, out with the old - where that 'old' happens to be just plain daft.

My only real complaint about what I've seen for 4E so far* is that it seems they will keep the term 'Armor Class.'

If that ends up being the biggest complaint with 4e, I think the designers will consider it an unmitigated success. (^_^)
