The Tielfling and The Gnome: On the Set of 4th edition

What were the gnomes in 3e that you played with like? The ones that I knew either would fire fireballs into the middle of the party and then say "oops", or they kept trying to build an artificer archetype pre-Eberron.
Eberron artificers create ordinary magic items.

I dunno, it's just my thought. I've always been fond of Gnomes, but the constant griping and taking offense by gnome fans both on this board and the Wizards boards has really worn on my nerves over the last year or so, and I'm getting tired of it.
Five months does not constitute a year, unless the WotC boards are stocked with folks who were making REALLY accurate predictions for once.

If you frequented the Minature boards a while back, you'd know what I was talking about.

It was the accent (inconsistant as it was) that really sold me on the Tiefling. I really want to play a Tiefling named Natasha all of a sudden...

With and whip and thigh high boots.........excuse me....I'll be right back :o

Not to sound snarky, but of course it is "teef-ling". It's practically a German word, meaning little dark one. In German, the "ie" diphthong is always pronounced like you are saying the letter "e" in the alphabet. I did not realize people were trying to pronounce it any other way.

No prob.
For the record, it wasn't my question, and I was equally surprised when a thread surfaced asking the proper pronunciation. It seems there are a fair amount of people that pronounce it 'tie-fling.' But now they know. And knowing's half the battle.

I'm one that thought drow rhymed with "row" (as in, your boat.) A few years ago, I learned the correct pronunciation rhymes with cow. That's fine by me, it doesn't matter, but I'm surprised how hard of a time I'm having retraining myself to say it right.

The English major in you isn't freaking out over your spelling and grammar, though? :p

When I was an English major, I worked as a grader for one of the professors. In my experience, English majors can't spell.
