The Top Ten Domains...

Re: Plant and Animal Domains

Animal and Plant domains are awesome.
You get all the advantages of the Druid class and none of the disadvantages.

This is one of the oldest myths of 3e D&D. It was never true. In reality, you get virtually none of the advantages of the Druid class. Animal companions are not the bulk of what Druids are about. Nor is entangle, a spell that only functions if your opponant is standing in nor near pre-existing plants.

Druids are primarily about the versitility and uniqueness of their spells, and wildshaping. The Animal and Plant domains are extremely weak compared to those abilities. In fact, you would be closer to a Ranger (who also gets animal companions and a few animal and plant spells) than a Druid with those domains.

Probably because noone playes CHA-based fighters.

Nope, only Paladins! :)

Well, hopefully after people see Melvos, my shield-bashing PC in buzzard's PbP adventure, they'll be enlightened. :D
(He was already kicked out of one PbP for being too strong)

I remember him from that other PBP which didn't continue after a short while (the one with the dead dragon). The one based on Mark Wahlberg's role from the big hit, right?

IMO, Luck is hands down the best Domain in the PHB if you are taking a single level of cleric. A reroll is a lifesaver for high and low level characters.

I would vote Travel as the best all around PHB domain. The special ability is very good and the domain spells are mostly useful arcane spells.

You got it on both counts! Very good!
I thought that PbP by Tsunami had great promise.

But I liked him, and now have an absolute hideous combat-monster (it's really quite ridiculous) in Melvos in the Four Color to Fantasy PbP being run by buzzard.

Superpowers make cleric domains look like dog food. :D

Yep, Tsunami's. His name eluded me earlier.

But with a cleric you can make a powerful, yet reasonable character - something you can hardly say about a paladin armed with a ... shield! :D

As a combination War & Elf. Cat's Grace from Elf domain is pretty good for archers, since it can be empowered.

Luck is also always a good choice. it even has Mislead at sixth level. ;)
