The trends of 2005

I admit a lot of this is just wishful thinking but still...

A few flash in the pan PDFs supporting that WWE wrasslin' rpg for other federations like WCW / nWo, ECW, etc.

These would almost have to be fan produced freebies since WWE actually owns the rights to WCW and ECW but to do supplements they would have to get the rights to use all the former WCW and ECW wrestlers' names and images, and they aren't going to want to do that.

But i definitley expect we'll see fansites with stats for these and even more wrestlers once the game is released.

I predict that Know Your Role will be the most successful RPG on the subject of pro wrestling yet released. I predict that even some people who don't like wrestling will find it is fun to play (in fact, I know this to be true as I run a playtest group). I predict that my character Hammer will continue to get squashed in every match he's in :)

Personally, I think C&C is being written by Gygax as his way to tell the world that this is how he would have written D&D 3e and not how WotC wrote it. Who knows? All I know is that I am going to buy it, play it, and have fun.
C&C is not beign written by Gygax. He's doing the Castle Zagyg series that is compatible with C&C rules.

The authors credited on the cover of the C&C PHB are Davis Chenault & Mac Golden , though presumably there were many others who had input.

I thought it was written by Gygax...my fault for not knowing who the author is. Duh!

i haven't read the whole thread after this, but i think you already know Gary didn't write it by now.

i too will be getting it. but then converting all the useful material to OD&D(1974). along with Castle Z...

The numbers were made up because they weren't supposed to be statistical evidence, but rather a lesson in basic economics for the uninformed.
Thank you. I guess I'll just toss this B.S Degree in Economics and my MBA out the window since I'm so uninformed that I need to have "basic economics" explained to me by some guy on the Internet. :heh:

And basic economics still dictates that doubling your production in this industry only works if you can actually expect to at least double your sales and market share.
Otherwise, you're actually throwing money away.
You need to go back and redo basic economics if you believe that. There's still profit to be made in two gamelines. Even if both individually aren't as profitable as a single one, it a) ensures you against shocks in demand (i.e., everyone gets tired of FR, or you put out a really dud book), b) increases your market share, thus increasing your chances of selling to other customers (granted, that's a bit of a marketing crossover, not basic ecnomic theory), and c) increases your revenue without unduly increasing cost are still profits that are wasted if you don't go after them. In basic economic theory, you want to maximize the efficiency of your system by finding all the profits and reaping them.

What you are talking about is business, not economics. Because despite the theories of maximum efficiency, common business sense tells you that sometimes it's not necessarily worth it. Although you certainly haven't demonstrated that that is the case here, and the fact that WotC is actually publishing two (technically three, if you count Greyhawk as the "core" game still) settings certainly suggests that your "logic" has led to the wrong conclusion. If it truly wasn't worth it, they wouldn't be doing it for long.

I predict that either at Gen Con 2005 or sometime before Christmas 2005 that WotC will announce 4th Edition which will be released Gen Con 2006. All the naysayers will then realize all the problems with 3.5 that they hadn't realized yet and proceed to critize anyone who says there is no need for a 4th edition. These same people will also critize anyone who thinks WotC should wait because if they don't release 4th edition WotC will suffer financialy and we should all support WotC by buying the new version since WotC is a buisness and businesses need to make money.
