The Trip-Attack Question

Player X trips target Y.

Target Y takes a move action to "stand up from prone" which provokes. Player X gets an AoO.

Does it occur while the target is still on the ground (-4 penalty to AC from being prone), or after the target has stood up (allowing a trip attack).

I had the right answer to this saved somewhere, but I've long since forgotten and now I'm dealing with a player using the improved-trip and reach weapon.

_____

Tangential note, can you move after being rendered prone? Can you take a 5-foot movement? Can you take a 5-foot step as a move action before standing?

Interestingly enough, from the recently released updated FAQ

"All attacks of opportunity happen before the actions that trigger them (see Chapter 8 in the
Player.s Handbook). When you make an attack of opportunity against someone who is getting up, your target is effectively prone, and therefore cannot be tripped. You could ready an action to trip a prone foe after he gets up, however."

So, if player X takes the AoO the target is still prone.

Sage says "Feel free to tumble while crawling, however."

He does, of course, say this immediately after "Crawling is not normal movement". And the only uses of Tumble to avoid AoOs defined in the PHB are 'as part of normal movement'.
