More agreement on encounter powers. It's quite common in my game for the number of encounters between extended rests to be primarily under my control (as GM) rather than under the players' control, and to be highly indeterminate - neither I nor my players know how long things will go before the circumstances arise that will permit an extended rest.

Under these circumstances, dailies become a somewhat variable resource, while encounter powers provide the base-line PC power that still permits tactical intricacy in play.
