Day 45: The Haunted Tree, Day 10, Midday [ooc]Demographic Information: Unlike the real world which has been cursed with stinging, biting insects, The Untamed Wilds contains none of these. The prevalent insects of a swamp are dragonflies, damselflies, and mayflies. Occasionally there are also dobsonflies and ichneumon flies, but there are no mosquitoes or gnats.[/ooc] Merin smiles at Sheldon, and says, Sheldon considers, "That is an interesting point. I can speculate that the smallness of the lights made the sentries curious rather than alarmed, which is what we were hoping. Feeling confident by the success of their previous plan, the Seekers continue in the same mode, Sannit, Bolo, Saemund, and Turtle taking the left flank, Sheldon and Indigo taking the right, Merin and Tor holding the center. Continued travel brings conclusion to Merin's question as to why the sentries did not give an alarm. No one is encountered. By midday, the flicker of a small fire about 50 paces ahead of Tor draws everyone's attention. Stopping to physically scan the area, as the distance is to far to manipulate way, shows that the tree in question is so large that it first defies notice. The flicker of the fire is burning under a spit. There is a female tending it. Thoroughly scanning shows this to be a small community, the tree being the center of it. There is a large dwelling built into the oak and satellite structures in some of the surrounding cypress. Rope travel ways are strung between the trees. The whole area is decorated with hanging bones of various animals and people.
