One more thing the Mesmerize ability does it require a standard action each round to mantain the effect or does the effect last untill the target succeeds at its save as per the Hold Monster spell?

The effect lasts until the target makes a successful Will save, as per the hold monster spell. I think. Unless there is something I'm missing?

I assume you're referring to the descriptive text--- or is it the special attacks and qualities, too? Could you elaborate; without a better idea of what you mean, I'm not sure what you think needs revision.

That is how I think the ability reads. I was just making sure that was how you meant for it to function like that because it is a pretty big differance in terms of game effect. As written the ability is very powerful and could very easily result in a good number of PC deaths but I guess on the whole it is not any more powerful than the Lich's permanent Paralyzing Touch.

Actually, upon reconsideration I don't think I was clear enough about what I wanted mesmerism to do. I'm going to edit it now.

What is your feeling about taking gaseous form while wearing metal armor? I don't think it fits my mental picture of the vampyr, but I'm still undecided...

Well material armor becomes worthless while in Gaseous Form, if that helps.
