Vin Diesel wouldn't even come close to the portrayal of Conan Arnold is capable of. Face it, no one else really fits the role, and a Conan movie without Arnold is doomed to fail.

In one word:

Yawn.

Hopefully it isn't true, as I am almost considering right now not going to see "The Matrix: Revolutions." The second movie, while fun and visually cool, was quite a letdown to me -- almost "Star Trek V" -ish.

but there's just something about Arnold's physical presence, accent, and demeanor that makes him perfect for roles like the Terminator and Conan.

Heh. I always thought Arnold as the Terminator was the worst casting ever. I mean, I love Arnie, but what kind of dumbass supercomputer builds an "infiltration and assasination" cyborg that looks and sounds like a 6-odd-feet-tall MASSIVE bodybuilder with an Austrian accent?

Considering the part was originally written with Lance Henriksen in mind, Arnold did a FANTASTIC job being as memorable in the role as he did.

But as for TM:Rev, I'll probably be a sucker, break down and go and see it anyway when my gaming group does. :) I'm a sucker for Genre stuff, even if it's done remotely well. It's been so long in the genre to see it, the next time-travel movie that gets made, I'm so bought and paid for.

I'm even gonna watch Tru Calling this fall. Then again, with Eliza Dushku on it, that's a given. ;)

Henry, I saw Reloaded yesterday afternoon for the first time. I loved it.

My secrets?

1) I saw it at a brewpub. A pitcher of beer makes any movie better.
2) I went in expecting it to be basically action-porn. I waved my hand impatiently at the "plot" and the "dialogue": who cares what Keanu has to say about anything? Who cares what lameo justification the computers are using this time to justify whatever it is they're doing? Fast forward! We want to see Neo running around on people's heads!
3) I expected it to suck like a sucky thing, and was pleasantly surprised when it didn't.

Low expectations; ignore everything except eye candy; and booze. It adds up to one great movie experience.

(Sadly, I tried the same thing with Attack of the Clones. Didn't help. Some things are beyond saving.)

Daniel
