Wow, this is some pretty good thread necromancy. ;)

Its a good thread. I have been thinking about using the wild hunt in my game. The problem is that I run a E6 game, so the encounter would be overwhelming any way it was handled. While I like the idea of it being something no single individual could overcome, I would like to pitch it at a level where a high level (6th level in E6) party of 4-6, probably with assistance may, at great personal risk hold off the hunt.

I am thinking along the lines of 8th or 9th level for the Huntsman, and maybe keeping the hounds as is, but reducing the number to 12.

The thing I like about this as an encounter is that, even if the party prevails one night, the next night the Hunt will be back. This, I think, makes it even more terrifying.
