The Wrath of Mallenar!

I still think that the best thing is absolutely not to attack the actual forces of Mallenar - Wars are won and lost based off of logistics.

The best way of reducing the morale of the living troops is to force them to go without food for a couple of days. In fact, it is stunning how quickly an army begins to lose combat effectiveness when they are out of supply.

Spend a couple of weeks hitting thier supply routes and you will soon see Mallenar's army start to turn against itself - Then you hit them.

What would you do?:)

No doubt, the players are going to be in desperate need of help in this situation!

Two words, baby: Plane Shift.

Seriously, though, what kind of population numbers are these nations dealing with? We're talking over a million men in the field, if I'm reading this right. How the hell are they feeding these armies, and keeping them mobile? The supply trains should be logistic nightmares. Sabotage them.

No supply trains. The Valloreans have magical field ration packs that replenish themselves. One for every soldier.

The bad guys likely use similar magic or simply feed off the innocents in the country-side.

A couple of questions:

How deep into Vallorean territory have Mallenar's armies marched? If they're camped in rural Vallorea, and equipped with what I suspect to be a very high level of magic, then their supply lines won't be a factor.

And what are the classes and levels of the principle PC's and NPC's involved (if available)?

If the principles are Epic level, then the actions of a handful of spellcasters will have a massive influence on the outcome of this war.

Kinda like the importance of modern day intelligence and special forces operatives.

Dragonblade, SHARK - classes and levels, fellas?

No that is an very detailed answer to my emailed request!

Ill look through it and answer later this evening :)

Strangely Im still rooting for the badguy.

If I remember correctly , at the fortress there is a fleet of flying ships and a floating island. These together with other flying troops can provide airial superiority.

The enclosed valloreans should be able to build fortifications and prepare to hold out, if they can secure a relative safe position they could hold out for quite some time, if they can prevent Mallenars armies from linking up, the empire could get enough time to mobilise.

Lets not forget the troops "sacrificed" by Mallenar at the fortress, and surrounding lands. These forces had several tricks up their sleeves. So they might have some suprises left.

What is the condition of the surrounded troops? How did the delaying tactics of the fortress, sap their strenght? How long do the forces in the empire need for mobilization and consilidation?

As the reptilian troops are new to the battlefield, we need to find out what tactics work against them. Are they coldblooded? Areas of cold could drain them immensely if so! What are the weaknesses of T-rex?

Send more messages! Use teleporting mages, planeshifting messangers, runners, pigeons, but send the warning in as much different ways as possible. A griffon (personally, I suspect a squadron griffons) is vunerable, so duplicate the message, make sure it gets there!!!!

reverse the tricks discussed in the defending a mountain fortress thread. Celestial iso fiendish Dire-Tigers, etc.

I have two characters in SHARK's game that joined the "Guardians of Empire" when I played in SHARK's game about a month ago.

I have a 40th level paladin named Valyn and a 20 Mnk/20 Sorc. named Zairyn. They both took part in siege on the mountain fortress that SHARK talked about in his thread from about 2 months ago. That siege is still on-going as far as I know.

Right now my characters are NPCs in SHARK's campaign until the day I get back down to L.A. to play again. ;)

Since I haven't heard from SHARK in a while, I don't know whats been happening with the campaign.

I do know that the main group in this campaign is composed of over 40 characters, both PC and NPC mixed, with the latter usually high-level retainers and henchmen of the PC's.

All of the characters range from 20th to 50th level. Haldeinathor, a 50th level paladin, NPC and one of the main party leaders, is also in command of several Vallorean legions. Several other high-ranking party members also have titles and rank among the Vallorean forces as well.

You'd think it would change things so that the leaders of both sides would be the dominating force. Keep in mind though, that in SHARK's world, your average city guard post is going to have at least one 20th level half-celestial ^_-

This is ground breaking epic stuff.
