Thief, the Dark Project, the RPG?

At this point, I'm focusing lot on plots and characters. I'm not terribly good at these things, given that I've never really done it... Think I'm biting off more than I can chew with this?

Not at all. You are already light years ahead of many GMs in terms of the story, mood and background in which you want to set your games.

Find mechanics that will fit your story, but spend more time on your story. The beauty about the D20 system is that it has some simple basics: high rolls are always good and the concept of opposed rules. While creating a game based on spot rules is not fair to your players, most mature players trust their GMs to be fair.

Stick to the story, make it immersive and your players will be happy.

I've got two potential players for my campaign, the first target mapped out, and a general idea for the plotline. I'm hoping to start within the week.

Good luck! Be sure to let us know how it works out.

Definately let us know how things go. My game is still firmly lodged in the Planning Stage, and won't see the light of day for quite a while. Good to see you have more initiative than I do. I think part of the problem is that I'm already in 2 games with my boyfriend, and we don't really have tome for another. Oh well. I can keep working on the game ideas. Who knows, maybe I'll play in a decade.

Unfortunately, I no longer have a campaign. The pricks in my university's administration decided, for god knows what reason, to rename internet programming as network programming on the sign-up lists, causing me to sign up for a course I already took. I only found this out a few hours ago. I'm pulling out of the course, naturally, and I'm packing up my things and I'm heading home, away from everybody I know who plays in DnD.

I goddamn hate the Bishops' University Administration.

JD Corley over at RPGnet has a web site (somewhere) with info for his alluring Thief: The Dark Project campaign. His system of choice is, IIRC, Marvel Universe. If you're interested, you might want to hit himk up for advice and/or his web site URL (I'd give it to you myself, but my bookmarks are all screwy right now, and my memory is shot).

Searching for this JD Corley, I discover that he and I have the same Avatar... I like him already! I'm searching through his threads. Maybe I'll find some kewl loot.

I'm sorry, Falkus. that blows. Hope you can find some new players for your game. Even if you don't, I'd be thrilled to discuss plot and character ideas for our respective games.

Thanks, I had a perfect first mission plotted out to.

Truart had begun his crackdown on the city wardens, and after arresting one of them, a small-time fence who mostly deals with independants sees a chance, and hires the PCs to steal some items from one of the wardens smuggling operations at a warehouse. I had the whole place mapped out, guards statted and the perfect twist. Just after the players would have grabbed the target loot, the doors of the building would have been kicked and open, and city watch would have raided the place, forcing the players to work their way out, while dodging guards and watchment. The raid would be lead by a young and enthusiastic officer of the watch, one Sergeant Mosley.

On a seperate note, I beat Thief: Deadly Shadows. While the game wasn't as good as it could have been, I enjoyed the plot and considered the ending a perfect way to wrap up the series, bringing Garret's story full circle, so to speak.
