Hi Folks,
Probably a pretty easy question. Does a Rogue get their dexterity bonus when using their Thieves tools? I only see mention of proficiency bonus for it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!

That depends: is the task they are trying to do one that requires manual dexterity and nimbleness?

Most of the time the answer will be "yes" but I could imagine uses of the tools involving Intelligence.

You use dexterity when using thieves' tools to open locks (page 152 PHB).

In general you also use dexterity when using thieves' tools to disarm traps (page 120 DMG), however traps can also be also be magical in nature or require other solutions.
