Things Missing in the 3.5 SRD?

Bleys

First Post
So I finally start a thread of my own ;)

Anyway, we were running our first session using 3.5 (mostly) over the weekend and I had my printout of the 3.5 SRD with me. I flip to the B's in the monster section, so I have a quick reference to the Beholder that's part of the encounter (we're going through the WotC Adventure series and currently on Deep Horizon) and lo and behold, there's no Beholder!

I then grab my laptop and surf on out to WotC's site, thinking that perhaps it was accidentally lost in the PDF conversion and it's not on their version either...

I've come across at least a handful of other monsters that aren't in the 3.5 SRD (though I can't remember all of them off the top of my head, but Githyanki and Gitzerai are two) and I was just wondering if this was purposeful or not.

Anyone else notice things that are missing from the 3.5 SRD?

Yep, it's on purpose. A bunch of monsters which are destinctly "DnD", including the beholder, the mind flayer, the carrion crawler and the gith, aren't open game content. Wizards can make products with these creatures in it, but other companies need to ask permission to use them.

Also Slaad, Baatezu and Tanari as fiendish subtypes, displacer beast, and Kuo toa as well. Maybe some more as well but I can't recall.

Thanks! I thought that might have been the reason behind it, but just wanted to make sure ;)

Guess I'll have to deal with marking my place in the book until I get a chance to put together a quick reference for my own use :D
