Things that should not be said

In the artic waste the party hudles under a Leomunds Tiny hut. "Pelor has told us the Frost giants have the information we need." States the priest after the divination.

After a momments pause "hmm well I think we should go ask them for the information" comes from the lanky fighter.

The holy paladin counters "I know, will kill some and the priest can question their dead bodies"

Oh, c'mon. Like you weren't gonna kill them anyway. Frost Giants are evil, and thou shalt not spare the wicked and whatnot. And Speak with Dead doesn't have the Evil descriptor. I say there's no moral ambiguity to it at all! Go get 'em tiger!

At least the paladin came up with a better excuse than "But, I'm 500 xp from 10th level!"

Is this the same holy paladin that wanted to pimp out his axiomatic half-celestial dire lion cohort mount to a circus freak show to make a few extra gold pieces? :p

I've seen worse paladins, much worse. You know, the kind of paladins that say "For justice!" and such, but kill nondiscriminately, hoard treasure, act like madmen and generally behave like they were CN.

Why is it that "paladin" so often seems to be code for "sanctioned violent idiot"?

Demiurge out.

I remember a certain druid, who, when we were trying to think of a way to roust some giants, suggested that a forest fire might do it. :)

All the "bad" paladins are really blackguards in disguise, trying to sully the reputations of all paladins. :D

Seriously, though, paladins get like that because the DM allows it. If I was the DM, any paladin that consistently acts CN (occasional goofs can be forgiven) is going to get a one-way ticket to Non-paladinville.
