Things the Report button is NOT for

In fairness I can think of a number of reasons why one might want to report one's own post, mostly involving drawing attention to technical issues and glitches if posting in Meta for some reason isn't possible.
Moderators can't help with technical issues. They don't have access to the site code or any ability to fix bugs or glitches. Computer programming and community peacekeeping are two entirely unrelated and not-overlapping skillsets. Also, don't report fires to your dentist, or toothache to your gardener. :)

So, here's a thing many people don't seem to get: A bit of red text isn't a huge deal.

Yes, a moderator told you (generic, not you, RoughCoronet) to knock off whatever it was you were doing. But if you do knock it off... that's it. It's done. If you aren't making a habit of it, and aren't far over the line, that's pretty much the end of it, as far as we are concerned.
As a middle-school teacher . . . it's the same thing, arrgghhh!

If I ask you to stop doing something you shouldn't be doing . . . and you stop doing it . . . WE'RE GOOD!

Get all defensive and try to fight me on it . . . off to the principal's office with you!

I suppose some folks truly do never leave the school yard behind.
