"This game will bury you" vs. "This game is a flash-in-the-pan"!

I think that Mutants and Masterminds may have the power to last awhile but it may be too early to tell.

I do too. As long as d20 stays around (which it is), I think M&M will too. They've established themselves as the d20 supers game. I know there are others but I think M&M is at the forefront.

As for Shadowrun, I loved the game up to about second edition and have never looked for it again since FASA went under. There will probably be small pockets of resistance, but unless the title was picked up by a major player, I dont see it being the powerhouse it was, ever.

Well I don't think it was ever a powerhouse. It always had a small and underground, but devoted following. I thought similar to you until I started getting back into it. Honestly, I think SR is stronger than it ever has been right now.

The thing I'm finding really cool about the SR community is the amount of "stuff" fans create on their own. I'm talking stuff that is better than a lot of published d20 stuff and it's free. And because it's a somewhat small and rather specific community, the quality of material is very high.
