Lord of the Hidden Layer
One guy in England got the Nigerian Prince scam email (early on when Internet and emails first entered underdeveloped countries) and wrote back "My uncle was a British Civil Servant in Nigeria before independence and I believe he can help". The following 50 pages of back-and-forth were set in book format - and my Public Library picked up a copy. It was a fun evening's read before going to bed.
The scammer lost it; he was persuaded the Brit really did have Government connections and was about to call the bureaucracy in on the matter.
