Any idea why foreign revenue is so low for the Dark Knight?

My speculation is the foreign release dates. In Germany, it will be released only on August 21th.

I hates it. Really. I want to watch Batman _NOW_! Damn it, we're actually the last to get it (according to the link)! I hope the dubbing will be worth the wait (doubt it).

The only reason I haven't gone to ... less respectable ways to see the movie is because I really want to see it on the big screen first and want to ensure I "help" the movie to get money so that more of its kind are made.

I fear that I will be utterly disappointed after having build up such expectations. :(

Has not hit a number of those markets, yet, but for the markets it has been released in seems to be in line with Batman Begins. The numbers seem off because it is such a major hit here.

See it a second time. No, really.

I went into the movie with huuuuge expectations. Batman Begins is the entire reason I got back into comics and was my favorite comic book movie, period, up until this point. So I went into The Dark Knight with massive expectations. Seeing it the first time? It was good, but there's no way it could live up to everything I wanted.

So I saw it a second time. And having gotten all my expectations out of the way, it proved a vastly more enjoyable experience. I think it may have replaced Batman Begins as my favorite comic movie.

And now Neil Gaiman and Kevin Smith will be writing the comic book of Batman...so the comic will be worth buying as well.

Thanks for your answers, folks. I confess, the thought that it might not be out yet in many countries hadn't crossed my mind. I'm used to seeing blockbusters open nearly everywhere on the same day, or at least on the same weekend.

Oh, and for those who have yet to see it, it's definitely worth it. IMO it's not the supreme masterpiece some fans have called it, but it's certainly one of the best superhero movies to date, and quite possibly the best movie of 2008 so far.

Looks like most of the biggies have been making their nut back. X-Files has a surprisingly low budget, IMO, while Step-Brothers is oddly high. Space Chimps is tanking but I feel sorry for Hellboy II opening up the week before TDK. It really didn't stand a chance.

Hellboy 2 is along the lines of the first one, the biggest differance being budget, this one 85 mill over the 65 of Hellboy but that is the price of a sequel. Plus, Hellboy 2 will do well on the DVD and TV. Due think they should have gone with say an April release, would have lasted longer on screen.
