Thought my 1st question was daft?

An internet aquaintance of mine has a rather unique, and in my opinion rediuculous problem. But answering it coherently is beyond me...

He is using both Frostburn and Deities and Demigods... his problem is this, I shall quote him:

Let's say, that a PC somehow got ahold of some piece of a God (ex. a lock of hair that was a holy relic.) and cast Ice Assasin using it to create an exact replica of that god with all it's abilities.

Coul the PC order the Ice assasin to use it's ability to create a Proxy to give him a Divine rank? Could the PC find pieces of 22 Gods and create Ice Assasins to get a divine rank from all of them, gaining Overdiety status and (as the proxy creation section says) all the abilities of the Gods he used? Could the Ice Assasin use all but 1 of his divine Ranks to create that many Gods out of the party?

The spells alone would cost 440,00 gp, and 110,000 xp, but that's a small price to pay for godhood.

This is just within the rules, as they're written in the books. I'm not asking for ways to stop a PC whose trying to do this, I can think of plenty ways.

See what I mean? Any ideas?

Gods are beyond the grasp of mortal magic. It would simply fail. ;)

That was pretty much my interpretation...

Although reaserching the spell, Ice Assasin raised a few questions over the powers and abilities of it... Here's my reply:

Ice assassin is an improved verson of the Simarilcrum spell, wiich specifically states that you cannot create a duplicate of a critter with more HD than twice your caster level. The ice assasin spell omits this, but it's safe to assume it is a likly limitation to the spell, and as most deities have 40 HD minimum, I bleive they're safe. (If you even allow Deities to have stats in the first place! That's a rediculous notion IMHO!)

Simulacrum also only creates a critter with 1/2 the origional critters HD, levels ETC, again, this info is omitted from the Ice assasin entry. (I assume that this, at least, is deleberate, as IA is a Lv9 spell, while Sim is a Lv 7)

Your PC still has to gain bits of 22 gods, in order to gain his overdeity level, I'm sure the gods themselves will wisen up to some pesky mortal steling devine toenail clippings, and sort the problem out themselves.

As for the proxy side of things, I'm not entirely sure that one being can become a proxy of multiple gods at the same time (Or at least, I'm sure they would not 'stack') . Alignment restrictions alone should see to this. Also there is is the arguement that Simalicrum/Ice assasin may not bestow devine ranks on the duplicate it creates. Wether it is a copy of a god or not, it is still only a copy, and therefore not privvy to derific <sp> properties.

Theres plenty of stuff here to trip your smart alic PC up with, but I think your best weapon is a DM-shaped Deitiy's boot up the jacksie of the impetuous upstart!

Whaddya think?

My first thought was the divine ranks don't stack. (from what you said) They only have the power to grant one rank, not a second rank. The rest has to be earned through followers (I think). I'm not much for Dieties having stats or PC's meeting them though.
