D&D 3E/3.5 Thoughts about Arcane Spell Failure

I always saw it as a flavor enforcement measure like class alignment restrictions and race-locked PrCs and I hated it with a passion.

If you want your wizard to be another old dude in his bathrobe, fine. Just don't force me to always put my wizard in a bathrobe too. I was surprised they didn't also have a rule that reduced save DCs when not wearing pointy hats with stars all over them.

D&D has had this weird thing where it can't decide if it's a base game or a campaign setting. ASF is okay as a setting element that informs how the setting works, but less as the core of a game that's meant to serve multiple setting.

I prefer my wizard in a Snuggy, the wearable blanket. This ensures that they always get their 8 hours rest. But beware of the cursed Slanket, it drops your charisma to murderous mob inciting proportions.
