I'd sure like to see a shout-out to some TSR games from days gone by...Boot Hill, For Faerie Queen and Country, Agent 13, Gangbusters, Masque of the Red Death...just a little something for the old-school gamers.

I would sure like to get a Victorian game of some sort going...I've been doing some reading about Theosophy and the lost world of Mu and the Lemurians and various other stuff that seemed strange and ominous about 100 years ago, and there is more than enough to run an extended lost world / conspiracy / high adventure campaign [without even dipping into GURPS Cabal, and the Brotherhood of the Golden Dawn, and proto-Nazi occultists....]

Reading this has just made me wonder what I could do with a group of Victorian gentlemen adventurers facing off against the occultist of Himmler's SS... I've always liked turn-of-the-last-century dress, and who doesn't want to fight Nazis?

They'd be fairly old gentlemen, given that the SS was about 30+ years away from even the tail end of the Victorian period....

Y'know, I always wanted to do an all-seniors one-shot. Something like a group of WWII veterans [although at this point, you could use Vietnam-era vets, too] getting involved in a big adventure during one of their annual reunions. Give everyone some sort of real physical limitation to work around...and call it "Old Soldiers" [or "Semper Fi," if they're ex-Marines]...

I consider the lack of true Nazis a weakness of the Victorian era as an RPG setting, but I think it's perfectly acceptable to substitute evil arrogant Prussian military officers and evil racist Bavarian occultists...who will eventually become Nazis, unless you do the right thing and kill them now.

Be careful of the ones with facial scars. That's from sabre duels. And remember, the guy with the monocle is in charge.

Or maybe some racist Americans, or Canadians, or Jamaicans, or Zimbabweans, Mexicans, Brazilians, Chinese, Martians, English, French, Russians, or any other group of people.

I dunno...Canadians? That's a poor substitute for Nazis. I'm sure there have been evil Canadians, but still...

Brits v. French is just dandy for the 1890s, I would think.

Now, Chinese, that one I'll give you. Fu Manchu and his Si-Fan, they register pretty high on the pulp meter. I've always thought someone should do a revisionist take on Fu Manchu were he's the hero [an edgy, dark hero, a la Batman], fighting against evil British imperialists [I really need to sit down with Jet Li's people and talk screenplays]. That would be a good hook for an RPG, actually --- pulp and martial arts, with PCs fighting guerilla warfare against Queen and country.
