Thoughts on Cartoon Network?

I enjoy, Justice League, everything Timm touches is golden it seems.

He-Man is showing new shows for the person who thought it was cancelled, I think on Friday night but it could also be Saturdays.

I eagerly await the arrival of more GI Joe cartoons, I loved the Spy Troops movie, or well I really enjoyed the Cobra Commander scenes. I thought Snakes Eyes was black and crispy it was over done so much…

If I find the person who RUINED transformers, I will punch him, dead in the face.

I'm a huge Samurai Jack fan. I've got most of the episodes on tape, and those not on tape are on TiVo, but I'm still lacking episode I. Curse you, Aku!!

Doing better with Flash? In what way? In "Only A Dream" he gets nearly annhilated by Luminous, and as usual, two of the other Heroes have to save him. He could crack the skull of every Luminous duplicate in a second, if they were treating him like the real Flash.

Superspeed is the only characteristic the Flash has, and as such he is better at it than anyone else. But they never represent that on the show. Remember the episode where he could not catch up to a van that was going at most, 120 MPH? Green Lantern shows up and easily stops it. Bah. I would rather they not have the Flash on the show than continue to make such a travesty of his character.

Wal-Mart has the movie on dvd for, like, $5. I'm not a Jack fan so I skipped it. I did pick up a Powerpuff girls dvd (not the movie, but 2 hrs of episodes). I don't know what your Wal-Mart is like (or even if you have one), but mine has a bin for these cheap dvds. You may have to dig through it to find a copy.

Personally, I love these cheap-o dvds. Found a copy of Legend Of Boggy Creek. :)

As for Cartoon Network, I am a bit mad at them for changing the Toonami line-up again. Can they keep it intact for more than a month at a time? They dropped DBZ just when it got into the better story arcs (just starting The Android Saga). And remember when they had He-Man on every day for, what, a week?

And what the heck was up with that Immortal Grand Prix (or whatever it was called)? It was hyped as some big deal, week-long mini-series, but turned out to be 5 minutes a day for a week. Why not just run it as a half hour episode on a Friday?

*sigh*

Anyway, I'm enjoying Teen Titans even though I have some problems with the writing. Not the dialogue or characterizations, but plot holes you could drive trucks through.

Justice League is okay, but I find the stories repetitive and the characters are wayyy too weak.

DBZ is fun post-Frieza, Dragonball is great, and He-Man is okay. I love Inuyasha and Big O. Trigun was okay, but I didn't like the way it fluctuated between goofy comedy and absolute grimness. And I would have liked Cowboy Beebop more if the overall story arc had been tighter. Outlaw Star was fun.

Home Movies is fun, but I haven't seen an episode in ages. Brak has it's moments, but Aqua Teen Hunger Force is great. I hated Rurouni Kenshin when it began (see my coments on Trigun), but I love the current storyline.

Oh, and I thought that Fooly Cooly looked beautiful, but the early teen sexuality really creeped me out. Eeewww!

Not a fan of Samurai Jack or any of the giant robot animes (not counting Big O). I've caught a few glimpses of SD Gundam and it seems pretty good. Not really my thing, but it's not bad.

I hate them and their inability to keep to a regular schedule. I like the Powerpuff Girls and Samurai Jack, but rarely watch them because I can't stand the fact I have to check every week to see what day and time they be on just so I can find out if a new episode is on.

I give them credit for showing Freakazoid! (at least they used to) and Futurama on though.

Tivo, baby, Tivo. :)

They keep rotating the lineup, I'm fairly sure, to keep the ratings running. Their target demographic, which isn't us, likes to see a changing rotation, as they are noticably hard to keep in front of the TV. Keep the lineup fresh, and they keep watching. Plus, with things like VCRs, On-Demand cable, DVD-RAMs and Tivo/Media PCs, they don't much care, either way. My 3-year old has already figured out how to pause live TV, so he can run and get my wife to show her a Star Wars toy commercial.

That's my boy. :)
