D&D 5E Thoughts on Encounter Building advice in XGtE

I prefer the simpler tabular break down of the monster CRs compared to the character levels, should make it easier to quickly evaluate the challenge of a particular encounter. (and the multiple monster guide is very helpful IMHO.)

As far as challenge rating (easy, medium, hard, deadly) goes, I plan to treat these tables as medium level. For hard I will look at the CR for character levels one level higher and for deadly I'll look at CR for two levels higher (I will tweak that as I go).

Anyway I'm planning on trying it out for my high-level OotA remix that should be starting in the new year. I'll try and report back on how it goes (i.e. I expected X to be deadly and it wasn't)

In the meantime how does everyone else feel about them?

I am starting LMoP soon, I will check adventure as printed vs. DMG vs. XGtE vs. factual gameplay to make a better assesment of difficulty.

Cool. A long time ago I actually went through the first set of encounters (the goblin hideout) and calculated their CR levels and they matched up pretty nicely to the 6-8 encounter guideline in DMG.
