Thoughts on new magazine...

There's so much free stuff out, it is tough to sell an E-Zine unless it is exceptionally good and obviously so before purchase, I'd imagine.

That is true. I'm running it with OD&DITIES (any OD&DITIES readers here?) as a baseline - but have improved the 'look' of the magazine, primarily with artwork - we've got some great art in this issue. This is one of the advantages of a pay magazine - you can really go to town on artwork, and I have with Almanac.

I've had a number of reviews, all good - the detailed one has been posted on my website. Quality has to be the key, naturally, and I think Almanac has that (then, I would).

(alsih2o - That'll teach me not to use my calculator! I reckon that is still good value, though.)

the intro for almanac states it will cost $5. and it isn't even on paper!?!?!

grab a dragon and do a comparison. if i subscribe to dragon it is a little over $3 an issue. for this i know i will get some of the best art in the industry, news from the most inside inside sources, way more than 44 pages and what could arguably be the best content around.

and it is "real" in that it comes to me every month in the mail and can be held, perused quickly and handed to a friend.

now, as far as i can tell, you are charging in the same ballpark or more, have fewer pages, less inside scoops, i am assuming a less "name" staff, less access to the best writers in the industry and you are carrying the stigma of the pdf. noone is ever gonne see your product sitting on the coffe table unless the consumer takes the time to print it out at their expense.

i think you either need to massively upgrade content, soze and art, or lower your prices to 1/3 of their current or less.

Actually, it's $3. Where did you see that - I need to update wherever it was.

(Incidentally Mark - I just looked at you 'title' - three of your products are reviewed in Almanac One!)

I had no knowledge of this. Do you send a publisher's copy?

Thanks. I will do that. :)

Who is the reviewer, and are they on my reviewer's list or did they purchase them personally?
