Thoughts on Spell Focus

I replied to a non-serious topic (I would assume, Bugaboo started it) in the General boards about specialist wizards who seem more focused on a school other than their declared specialization. For example, a diviner with spell focus: evocation and greater spell focus: evocation. Someone pointed out that there isn't much point in increasing the DCs of spell schools that don't have a lot of saving throws, or people don't normally resist and I thought that this was a valid point.

Anyway, I was playing around with a solution, and since I won't get a serious response there I was wondering what people thought about my ideas on variant spell focus feats for other schools. This was just blurted out last night on the spur of the moment, but I'm thinking of using something along these lines now that I think about it. Balance issues? Would something like this be worth it?

It seems to me that they should change the way that the Spell Focus feat works so that it has equal benefit to all schools of magic.

Suppose, instead of adding a +2 to the DCs of divination spells, Spell Focus: Divination provided a bonus to the range or effectiveness of divination spells somehow? Or provided a small bonus to duration for abjuration spells?
Perhaps...

Spell Focus (Abjuration, Conjuration, Divination, Transmutation): A spellcaster focused on casting spells from one of these schools is able to push his magic further. For purposes of calculating either the range or the duration of these spells for the caster, treat him as though he is two levels higher. This does not apply to absolute range or duration, but only to a range or duration that has a level dependent variable.

I'd want Spell Focus Abjuration to give a bonus to Dispel checks and such.
