Meepo, if it helps you: I am a German and I do drink beer. And lots of it, too....

Well, yes. But how long is it since last time you invaded Poland?

Lars, you're slipping!

i guess if there are longstanding fueds and rivalries
Yes. Of course, these are between individual posters and are in effect no matter in which board these posters meet. ;)

But since Nutkinland is often the site of the conflicts between people, some people who participate in such conflicts even though they usually post more on EN World tend to view Nutkinland as hostile territory.

The reverse isn't true, though: EN World is huge and its posters are all kinds of people who often have only one thing in common: D&D.
(Heh. Of course, the fact that it's heavily moderated and so - other than Nutkinland - can't become a battlefield for petty rivalries time and again helps quite a bit to keep its name clean, too. :D)

Still, some Nutkinland regulards have their own prejudices towards some of EN World's more vocal regulars - but they hardly see EN World itself as hostile.
Also: No matter how much else Nutkinlanders might have in common with each other - they all like Morrus and Eric very, very much. :)

Me, I love both boards. :)

It won't be found in an unmoderated forum, either, I expect. Even here, the level of etiquette is kept high by moderation. The very threads that you wish to continue are the ones that attract lack of etiquette.
Heh, in all instances of public outcry and rebellion have there been oppressive masters.

Swear words are nothing more than words. I have always found it incredibly odd that people could take offense to such an innocuous and intangible thing. But then, people are weird.

Do you know where it comes from? Elitism. The upper-crust, a term derived from the rich getting the best portions of the loaf, looked down on people who used "common" terms. It was a moniker of who you were, your social status and upbringing. You wore your use of language like a badge that identified you to all, even your accent could be held against you.

I find that distasteful. I find that belittling. I find that immature. I find that incredibly stupid.

Which is why I prefer boards such as Realms of Evil and Nutkinland (although I haven't been there for awhile and even when I did go, wasn't really popular) because I'm treated as an equal and as an adult and my actions, not necessarily my words, are what I am judged by.

I find that heartening. I find that uplifting. I find that a mature response. I find that enlightening.

Each to their own I guess.

*I* find that swearwords, when it comes to signal-to-noise ratio, almost invariably fall in the lower part of the fraction.

I agree that they are nothing more than words. In fact, I find they are often something less than words. Too often misused, they are my best friends in identifying people who feel like they have to say something but don't actually have anything meaningful to say. Nothing like a good string of swearwords to immediately recognize a post that isn't worth reading.

I acknowledge the occasional usefulness of swearwords, but if I have to renounce it in exchange for freedom from kiddiots, so be it. I'll be the first to fight for their re-allowing the day people learn when to use them.
