Three headed frog sighted

Looks like a fraud to me. Two male frogs trying to mate with the same female. Oh how convenant that it hopped away while no one was looking. Notice how the bottom frog is smaller and a different color. Must be the female.

Actually, batracians are among the creatures the most likely to suffer from mutations (probably why the Slaad are froglike in D&D). It's because they're quite primitive for vertebrates, with organisms that aren't much resistant to pollutions.

For this reason, frogs are pollutant detectors the same way these birds are used as toxic gas detectors. They mutate or disappear much faster than other animals.

Among the primary causes of mutations for batracian is chemical pollution. No need to have a power plant nearby when you have, say, a paint factory nearby; or a farm with lots of consistently pesticid-poisoned fields.

The mutagen effects of pesticids are known. A local (to me) newspaper did an article on malformed kids born in families where these poisons are heavily used (farmers, etc.). In the region, they found a frightening number of freaks. For example, sexual anomalies, like a 3-month old baby girl who already menstruates...

Radiation leaks cause mutations, but just because you're thousand of kilometers away from the nearest nuclear power plant don't mean you're safe, because the atom isn't the only danger.
