Cooperative "direct sales first" network expanding rapidly
New York, NY – February 10, 2005 – Bad Axe Games, The Inner Circle, and Muse of Fire Games have signed as the newest members of INDIE PRESS REVOLUTION (IPR).
One of the latest releases of Bad Axe Games is Grim Tales, nominated for a 2004 ENnie as "Best d20 Game" and widely praised by designers and fans alike for its great game design and gritty play. A high fantasy, low magic campaign sourcebook/rulebook adaptable to many genres, it has game rules that can seamlessly fit into almost any game.
Slavelords of Cydonia, the first adventure sourcebook for Grim Tales, features a complete campaign for adventurers of levels 1-20 in addition to supplementary source material presenting new monsters, spells, technology, races, feats, and talents suitable for most any d20 game.
Bad Axe Games, run by Benjamin Durbin, is also the publisher of the highly-rated and popular Heroes of High Favor series: Dwarves (sold out), Half-Orcs, Elves, Halflings, and Gnomes (scheduled for release this year). There are plans to publish an Anthology containing all five races in one book along with updates and extras.
"Ben is a person who is seriously dedicated to putting out quality product," says Ed Cha, Co-Founder and Chairman of IPR. "I've always been amazed at how he keeps on coming out with all this top-notch stuff! We consider it a big coup to have him on board. Personally, I consider it an honor and privilege."
"We are very pleased to join efforts with IPR and our fellow publishers, who, like us, show that the smallest companies often maintain the highest standards in game design," says Benjamin Durbin of Bad Axe Games. "IPR is rapidly becoming a focal point for award-winning small publishers: a mark of quality, integrity, and a love of our hobby that customers can trust. We're proud to be a part of their effort to bring the absolute best of indie publishers to gamers everywhere."
The first release by The Inner Circle, Denizens of Avadnu, was nominated for a 2004 ENnie as "Best Monster Supplement". It is a 224-page full color hardcover book featuring over 140 exotic monsters with new prestige classes, skills, feats, weapons, magic items, and spells which can be used to enhance monsters. There is even a Physiological Uses section detailing various uses for a creature's remains. EN World reviewer Crothian says, "It is one of the most impressive first products I've seen. Heck, it's one of the most impressive products on the market. 5 out of 5."
Products from The Inner Circle are designed to showcase detailed and vibrant artwork with compelling and evocative text. "This is a beautiful, beautiful book," says Brennan Taylor, Co-Founder and CEO of IPR. "When I first opened it, my jaw dropped. The production values and artwork are unrivaled and the design is superb."
"I have very high expectations for The Inner Circle," says Ed. "I think they are just waiting to burst out with a bunch of high-quality books into the market."
The Inner Circle plans to release The Avadnu Primer, a unique campaign setting in the Violet Dawn line, and has Weapons & Combat in their product line-up, too.
Muse of Fire Games, run by Tony Lower-Bash, debuts with Capes, a superhero game with heart. As you play, you will show the amazing things that your superhero can do and, just as important, their inspiring reasons for doing them. The game poses the question, "Power is fun, but do you deserve it?"
Superhero stories are made of both thrilling victory and devastating failure. Capes rewards you for telling both sides of such stories: Defeat of the character isn't a defeat for the player. It is a different kind of victory and sometimes the most valuable kind. The game gives you more ability to control the story as it moves forward.
"Tony's game has a very tight design," says Brennan. "It is quick and fun to play and really brings the superheroics out of characters. I give it a big thumb's up!"
Any purchase of Capes at IPR includes a FREE PDF version of the game.
Launched in December 2004, IPR now has 11 members and sales are growing rapidly. Orders of $25 or more within the U.S. get FREE Priority Mail shipping, while orders from abroad for any amount get reduced shipping rates. IPR members share expenses to provide this service to customers.
