Three Worlds of Wonder

the Jester

Legend
Flashback to the early 80's... anyone remember this boxed set? It came with a basic "Fantasy Role-Playing" book, plus three more: Superworld, Futureworld, and... er, I can't remember, maybe Magicworld or something?

Anyway, I was wondering (based on the thread about Limper's beef) if this was the precursor to Runequest? Sounds like the same method of advancement.

The Futureworld and Superworld games were fun!

Yep, I was there.....but the Worlds of Wonder were not the *precursers* to RuneQuest...rather they were based on BRP (Basic Role Playing), which was the basic rules for RuneQuest.

BRP was actually 20 years ahead of its time. If Chaosium had though of doing an OGL on BRP then we wouldn't be talking about d20 right now.

Aha... Just curious, as I've never played RQ but a recent thread about advancing characters brought back the TWoW system in my head.

What was the fantasy one called, anyway?

Did anyone else ever play this system? Didja like it??

Personally, I thought the Superworld system was much better than most of the supers games I've played since...
