Through Darkness, Light ("the plethora of prospective permutations")

Maedril, Sibbecai Male

[OOC: I am just waiting for something to happen that Maedril would be involved in...I am reading the thread.]

Maedril moves forward, ready to assault.

As no one else has volunteered to climb the towers, Chenroeth will speak, "I have some climbing ability, I will join Kelsis unless someone more experienced wishes to try. That does mean that leading the charge will have to go to someone else though. I bet Aoe-Narara would lead a good charge."

Kelsis the Bright-Eyed, Female Sibeccai Akashic 1

*Kelsis nods, and begins to move toward the closest tower.*

"I'll take the near side. What kind of signal should I give when the sentries are down so the rest can begin their assault on the gate?"

Aelin shrugs his shoulders. "Perhaps some sort of whistle or orinthological vocalization? Or a launching of a recognizable piece of equipment?"

Aernoeth Swiftblade Quickling Unfettered

Aernoeth, bow in hand, sneaks out to the gate and gives it a tug. What happens next depends on whether it is open:

Should the gate prove closed, Aernoeth follows the plan he suggested, and fires on the sentry in the tower, while Kelsis and Chenroeth rush forwards and attempt to climb it.

If the gate proves open, Aernoeth flings the gate wide and then fires upon the sentry, hoping to kill him quickly. By then Aroe-Narara and Maedril should be charging past and storming the fort's ground level.

[OOC: I figured a good summary might help MacBeth so that there is less to read. I hope I got all the details right - if not, pipe up! :)

combat stats:
Initiative+4, AC 17 (14 flat footed), 8 HP
Dagger +5 melee (with a +1 bonus on top of that if target is Medium (Compensate for Size feat)), 1d4+0 damage
Shortbow +5 ranged (with the bodkin arrows ignoring 2 Armour bonus on top of that), 1d6+0 damage ]

Aoe-Narara

Aoe-Narara grabs Aernoeth shoulder as he starts forward.

"Hold friend, just a second."

She silently draws her longsword, closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. Seconds later her face contorts with fury and anger.

Gritting her teeth and glaring at the fortress, she whispers "I'm ready now! Go!"

[OOC: She will concentrate as many rounds as necessary to enter the Chi-Julud state.]

Kelsis the Bright-Eyed, Female Sibeccai Akashic 1

"Wait Aernoeth, have Chenroeth and I climb the towers and take care of the sentires first. I'll whistle loudly when the deed is done. Then take the gates and hopefully the both of us will provide archery support from the towers," Kelsis says quickly.

[OOC: Kelsis was hoping to climb the tower and take out the sentries before they opened the gate. So, given just a minute, she'll climb (assuming Chenroeth does as well) and attempt to slay the sentry. Then she'll give a whistle to hopefully start the assault.]

...

OOC: Just a clarification, Aoe-Narara's suggestion was that a single person first sneak forward to check the status of the gate, just look at it on the off chance it is open, and then come back to report, first. The gate is the critical cutoff point. If one or two get stuck behind it they could easily die. Also the group being split up would spell real trouble, so I think the plan should revolve around taking the gate, ensuring it stays open, and holding that area.

[OOC: Yup .. let me remind Kelsie of what Aroe-Nara said IC ;) ]

"But the Giant said if we don't get inside the keep, someone could easily die!" Aernoeth hisses back. "You go and get climbing, I'll take care of the gate!"

The Faen sneaks forwards as fast as he dares and then tries the gate. Aernoeth is really hoping these Bandits have been lax and lazy ...

Seeing the indecision in the others, Chenroeth will hesitate as a plan is finalized. He hopes that the gate will be open as a concentrated charge is far more heroic than the sneaky sneaky.
