Through Darkness, Light ("the plethora of prospective permutations")

Chenroeth spends the next hour in quite contemplation, and eventually opens his eyes, his conentration rewarded with the knowledge he seeks. (Go ahead and change your available spells, if you haven't already)

Kel, Kelsis, Aelin, Aoe Narara, and Aernoeth, and Maedril?) search the area thouroughly, and the results are considerable, Kel finds several small platforms in the trees, all of which are uninhabited. Most of the platforms seem to be watch posts, designed to let whoever's in them see the trail a good distance in either direction. All of the platforms are bare. On the ground the others pool their efforts and make a little more sence of the tracks. There is definately evidence of somebody droping from the trees, deep footprints mark landing spots along with afew twigs that were likely knocked down when droping from the trees.

With the ambush site thuroughly searched, and Chenroeth ready for battle, what will your group do next?

Chenroeth, male litorian mage blade 1

*Chenroeth stands up moving his hands lovingly across the runes on his battleaxe. He stretches a little after having sat in the same position for an hour. You hear a solid crack as he moves his head to the side, his mane shifting with the motion.*

*He dips the axe towards the trail bringing it slowly up to his nose while he mumbles a few arcane words. The runes on his axe glow a faint earthly colour before fading. "Alright I am ready, lets see where this trail leads. Any other finds while I was preoccupied?"

*He places Runethorn back in the harness on his back. As soon as Chenroeth has caught the scent he will set off down the trail checking to make sure that the others are following. As he is lacking in stealth, he will try to let the party know when the trail gets more fresh. And if it is possible to tell how many moved down the side path he will also let the rest know.*

[ooc: cast scent tracker]

Aoe-Narara, Giant Warmain 1

"I still don't think this is a good idea but let's see if the Litorian can pick up a scent. Then we can discuss if it is a good idea to follow it or not."

Chenroeth begins to pick up a smell, faintly at first, but with growing certainty. There is a stronger, newer scent leading along the side trail (the one that one of the groups of tracks follows, and a slightly older one heading back the way you came, towards the city. If you choose to, ollowing the either trail should be no problem, they are both fairly strong.

Chenroeth, male litorian mageblade 1

"Okay I have the trail. The one heading off the side trail that we intend to follow is newer than the other that heads into the city. If everyone is ready we should set out now while I have the scent. I will lead, if the scent becomes fresher we can let the more stealthy members scout out a bit. Does anyone have a light I might carry? It would help me to follow the tracks as well." Chenroeth says as he gets ready to head down the trail.

Maedril, Sibeccai Champion of Death 1

Maedril pulls out one of his Sunsticks, cracks it in half, and tosses it to the tracker. Maedril stands farther back, at the edge of the light, constantly looking about for any trouble. He quietly draws his weapon...just in case, and is ready to summon his shield at any moment. Without talking, he follows Chenroeth.

Aoe-Narara, Giant Warmain 1

"That light may help you follow the trail, but it's also going to alert any sentries we are coming long before we get there. We don't want to lose the element of surprise - it's the single benefit to attacking now rather than waiting until daylight tomorrow. Speaking of which, since we don't have a proper leader can we have a quick vote to decide whether to follow the trail? As I said earlier I don't think this is a good idea and my vote is to wait until daylight tomorrow."

Kelsis the Bright-Eyed, Female Sibeccai Akashic 1

*Kelsis hisses in surprise and dismay as Maedril brings out the light*

"Put that out! We'll alert everyone to our presense! Use something more subdued, that can be put out more quickly. Does anyone have a lantern?" she asks. When Chenroeth asks which trail they should follow, the impatient akashic responds, "We should strike while the iron's hot. Follow the fresh trail now, but mark the old. We can examine it later."

Kel

"Since we have the scent now, so to speak, I say we get as close as possible now, and strike early tomorrow. And, if we do track tonight, we do so without light."
