Tiny Rogue sniper

(If this does not belong in the rules section, please move it. Thanks!)

I was thinking of a sharpshooting, sniper type character with classes of Rogue to get the extra sneak attack damage. I was thinking of being a sprite from Arcana Evolved because they're Tiny, so would have a very good bonus to Hide (which is essential to sniping). I read more on Tiny characters and found that they can't flank.

Do you think the loss of one of the easiest ways to get sneak attack damage (flanking) is worth the Hide bonuses (and AC and to hit bonuses) from being Tiny? Or is it better to go with a Small character?

Thanks for the opinions!

What you could do is play a Small character, like a halfling, and take a level of sorcerer so you can cast Reduce Person when you want to snipe. Or maybe you can get an item that will do it for you. What level character are you thinking of?

Problem solved from your end. :)

Heh, that's what I was thinking too but wanted to get a second (or third, or fourth..) opinion.

Not a bad idea, but I wanted to stick with as many Rogue classes as possible to get the highest Sneak Attack damage. Level-wise, I was just stating out a character from 1st through 20th.

Hey, that's not too shabby! Thanks, I'll certainly consider them!

It seemed to do what you want. If you check out Races of the Dragon, there are some other nice options for kobolds (they can even get wings via feats).

If I'm reading the SRD correctly, tiny characters can't flank because they have reach 0. Sprites explicitly have 5' reach and occupy their entire square (in AU at least - I don't have AE), so they should still be able to flank.

The ninja's sudden strike and swift invisibility would be pretty nice for a sniper, plus their skill at climbing could come in pretty useful.
