Tips for Age of Worms?

Single class cleric and mage types is best. For mage types, a blaster mage is best but a good generalist is good. Stay away from niche classes like Beguiler because for this adventure path, they will be operating at a distinct disadvantage.

Party composition is less critical than having 'solid' characters. AoW is not the time to experiment with some wonky character build or playing a nerfed character for a personal storyline. You will need to bring your 'A' game character to the table or be prepared to wear toe tags alot.

Needless to say, lots of undead from the mid-campaign point onwards so anything that helps against undead may be helpful. Don't rely on turning for the cleric - at high levels, the Kyuss spawn undead are hard to turn.

Moria,

Yeah I know what you mean about A game. Which is why I'm wondering how much longer these guys will last as we progress into the Whispering Cairn or even to do Three Faces of Evil.

That only sounds as difficult as D&D should be.

Any tips you can provide, or advice that you can offer from your experience, both for me as DM and for my players as they work on the character creation?

Dread Necromancers ROCK!!!! :D

-Ozmarius the Dread Necromancer

Edit: Seriously. With a dread necromancer, you have nothing to worry about. Undead become your allies. This class is the uber-class against and with undead. My character at level 12 has 99 HD of animated undead, and keeps most of them in a portable hole just to make things easier on the party (giving them a chance to fight, too).

Our warforged psion is also amazingly helpful. And a dwarf artificer is always helpful. Etc...

The party works well together. But dread necromancers are definitely an "A" class for this campaign!
